I love my work and am committed to helping my clients develop their inner resources such as courage, kindness, insight, humor, and resilience.
I have a doctoral degree (1988) in Counseling Psychology from the University of Connecticut, am Licensed in the State of Connecticut as a Professional Counselor (#001419), and am certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors. I have additional and extensive training in EMDR, life coaching, hypnosis, Emotional Freedom Technique (advanced certificate), positive psychology, and relationship coaching.
Although my doctorate is in counseling psychology, I chose to pursue my professional licensure as a counselor rather than as a clinical psychologist; the field of counseling psychology in general adheres to a humanistic model of nurturing health, whereas clinical psychology in general follows a medical model of treating illness. My own perspective is that in most cases, when the impediments to growth are understood and removed, we are naturally wired to heal and to grow. Clients best-suited to my practice are fundamentally well, seeking support for emotional healing, insight, and growth.
I live with my family in Farmington village.
